WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST?
The mark of the beast refers to Biblical New Testament writings in the book of Revelations chapter 13, verses 16-18. The scripture reads as follows:
Verse 16: He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,
Verse 17: so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
Verse 18: This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Many years ago I began to experience perceptions I believed were coming from God. I was about thirty-three years old at the time. I had experienced a similar thing at twenty-three years of age, and both experiences led to my entering a mental health facility for psychiatric treatment. I was convinced I had experienced a psychotic episode, and that the perceptions I had experienced were not real. I have been very cynical for a number of years about anyone who claims to know God exists, because the only times I ever believed I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt God existed were those two times I ended up in a psychiatric treatment facility.
Both times I believed I knew things others did not know, and both times I believed I was a prophetess. The first time I chilled my parents and family with beliefs that eating meat and using insecticides caused cancer, beliefs that were uncommon at the time, but published today by more than one authority on the disease. The second time I became obsessed with the book of Revelation, reading it over and over, and believing the scripture was speaking directly to me. while I was diagnosed with Bi Polar Disorder, I eventually ceased taking all medications, yet never had another psychotic experience. I assumed the experiences were somehow related to my drug using past, and brushed them off as being related to chemical imbalances brought about by the effects of street drug use on my brain chemistry.
Certain verses stood out during those times; however, and still get my attention when I hear them today. The mark of the beast has always stood out as a particularly frightening aspect of Bible prophecy, and while I have decided not to take the book of Revelation literally, there are some particularly bothersome aspects of this part of the New Testament writings I would like to discuss at this point in time.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
My answer is that I am not quite sure. I am by no means a spiritual giant or Bible thumper, and many of you have heard me write of doubt and contempt for the image of God portrayed in the Old Testament. I am not at all certain my previous experiences with "God" weren't chemical imbalances in the brain of someone who used a number of drugs for many years. At the same time, I am not one hundred percent sure they were.
In the last few days, two experiences on hubpages called the need to write this hub to my attention. One was a hub written by a fan friend about a new development she felt could lead to the Mark of the beast. Unlike me, she often writes religious hubs about Jesus, the Bible, and Christian living. Unlike her, and sort of like the Apostle Paul at one time, I do not. Her writing did cause me to remember those earlier times, and to question my own rejection of them as drug induced delusions.
A few days later, or maybe even the next day I received about three or four comments on a hub I had written from a hubber calling himself White Horse. The hubs were quotes from the book of Revelation. I assumed the guy was a nut, and am still not sure he isn't. Nevertheless, he left only one comment that made sense, and it was left on a male friend's site, not mine. He wrote something to the effect that God sometimes uses different methods to get our attention. I'm not even sure I believe in God or the devil at this point in time, but I'm not certain I don't believe in them either. So thinking this thing through, I decided to write what my current thoughts are dictating, and let them fall as they will. There are many reasons why the mark of the beast makes perfect sense today, whether or not you generally even believe in the Bible, God, or the devil. That fact alone is reason enough to write this hub.
WHO IS THE BEAST?
I'm not sure. Is the beast Satan, a government official, a movement, or a government? It could be any of the above, or it could even be a corporate structure. The book of Revelation is notably symbolic, so it is difficult to tell exactly what is being said. In fact John wrote the book this way intentionally, in order to confuse those who persecuted Christians for their faith. The book was only meant to be understood by certain people. Unfortunately, I am not one of them and neither are you, as they have long since died. I still remember; however, a statement made by a friend when I was working on a Mental Health Unit in Riverdale, Georgia, this time as a staff member rather than a patient. She said, "Certainly you don't still believe the anti-Christ is a person. It is a movement."
WHAT IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST?
According to scripture, the mark of the beast is a name of the beast, and a number. Apparently, this name and number must be placed on a person's forehead or right hand in order for him or her to be able to buy or sell. The name and number must be somehow associated with the purchase of products, or else it would have no relationship to the ability to buy or sell them. The name and number must be also associated with money, or else neither would be related to the purchase of products. For the first time in history, it is quite clear credit and debit cards might fit this description perfectly, as they are used to buy and sell, and could easily be banned from purchasing if need be. The technology also exists today to implant such information via computer chips under the skin, and is already being discussed as a possibility.
Consider this fact. If I steal your credit or debit card, you will call your credit card company. If I try to use your card once that happens, I might get arrested on the spot, because it is that easy to track your stolen card. Of course, this is a good use of the ability to stop a purchase by use of modern technology, but let's imagine for a moment, that the ability to use technology for this purpose fell into the wrong hands. At that point, would it not be easy to not only stop people (like Christians, for instance) from purchasing products or selling them, but to also track their location in order to arrest them on the spot? While I'm not the paranoid type, and don't even identify with most people who call themselves Christians at this point, I must admit this is a chilling thought.
Credit Cards and debit cards not only are used to purchase and sell products and groceries, but they also have names such as Visa, MasterCard, or Discover, and they definitely have numbers. Perhaps the beast is a world bank that is able to control all purchase power through use of credit and debit cards. If we were asked to worship money over God, we really wouldn't have that far to go, as most of us are doing that already. The concept of worship is usually thought of as prayer or church attendance; however, does it actually have to be related to such rituals, or can it be instead what we base our trust in, and what we serve. I'd say corporate structures and credit and debit cards come much closer in today's world to having the characteristics of the Revelation "beast" than some six headed monster.
If worship is about trust and service rather than prayer and church ritual, money and financial institutions definitely qualify, as we willingly enslave ourselves to them continuously. We not only enslave ourselves to them, but we pass harsh judgment on anybody else who is not willing to do the same. In today's world, we value wealth above moral integrity, and often have disrespect and disdain for the poor. We don't mind people knowing we are materialistic, cold blooded, or opportunists, but if you want to experience true shame, just lose your wealth or position. It matters no longer how you earn your money, or if you actually earn it at all, just so you have it. Indeed capitalism is our God, and we are willing to enslave ourselves and others in order to worship our deity. The beast could easily be corporate America, or some International Corporate entity that is able to take over through computer technology and enslave the people to its will. Sound far fetched? Then consider who rules the politicians on both the right and left sides of our political parties.
The book of Revelation also states the people will be deceived. Perhaps this is true because most are expecting some six headed devil, rather than a Corporate headed financial institution. Most are looking for the Anti-Christ in the person of a man, or single politician, rather than a group of banks or businesses that are able to take over and dominate the world through the use of financial means.
Look around you today. Who has the power? The rich. Who is growing steadily stronger and more in control? The wealthy and upper classes. Who is gradually taking the will and freedom away from those of us who are not in the top ten percent income group and making little more than slaves of us? Corporate structures.
Many believe modern day wars will not be fought with the traditional weapons of war, but with the weapons of financial structures and institutions. With the computer age we became a one world entity with the power to control anyone who worships and fears the power of money and the material, as well as to deny rights to anyone who does not do so. Where is God in all this? He has definitely taken a back seat to capitalism and the power of money. And I believe it states somewhere in the now little respected teachings of Jesus that we cannot worship both God and money.
Most so-called Christians aren't actually worshipping God or Jesus any longer. Listen to the rantings of the far right and all you hear are worship of capitalism and disdain for the poor. This is just the opposite of what the Bible teaches. Stop looking for the Anti-Christ. It is already here. Stop waiting for the mark of the beast. It is already here. All we need to wait for now is its use to enslave us completely as it has already started to do, and judging from what I am seeing, it will not be all that long in coming.

Truth is without all three promptings, this hub would not have been written as I seldom, if ever, write or talk about the book of Revelation, or attempt to make an interpretation of it. If God really was trying to get my attention, this hub is what he wanted me to write. If White Horse is a nut case, then the hub is as meaningless as most of what I read related to The Anti-Christ and The Mark of the beast.

I'm actually not sure I'm not on the right track. According to scripture most people will be decieved, and perhaps most people are. I'm not sure the whole idea of the mark of the beast isn't so much hocus pokus, but I'm not sure it is either. (:v
The book of Revelations is written by a man who is describing a dream that he had. I'm not sure that the man (John) understood the dream himself the way scolars seem to assume he did.
One thing I've learned is that God doesn't give us direct instructions. He's like a great Professor who drops the crumbs that will lead to answers. The book of Revelations is a dream given to John by God. I believe it's God's summery of the Gosples. Nothing more. God is really smart compared to us, thus making Him a tad bit spooky.
As I wrote, Jim, I'm not sure I even take the book of Revelation literally, but if I did, this is probably how the prophecy would speak to me. It wouldn't be a one man deal, or a single politician, but a movement and a rather large and powerful organization. Let's face it, I can think of about five presidents and Adolph Hitler so far who have been deemed the Anti-Christ, as far right as Ronald Regan, and as far left as Barack Obama. I don't think the Biblical prophecies are talking about the president of the United States. Of course, you could well be right that they are only summing up the New Testament. But it made a rather interesting hub, and its as good as any notion about the book of Revelation. LOL.
There has been many versions of peoples ideas what they understand Revelations to mean. I find that using the word "Anti Christ" in describing Revelations can cause the wrong idea. The word Anti Christ is not used in Revelations. The Beast of which there are two is in question. I will give my cents worth.
1) Beast with 2 Horns = USA and UK
2) Beast with 7 heads and 10 horns is the EU
3) The wounded head is Germany part of EU and strongest in EU
4) The whore that sits on the Beast with 7 heads and 10 horns is the "The Roman Catholic Church" also seated on 7 hills of Rome the Vatican
5) The False prophet would be the WCC World Council of Churches where all religions unify as one voice.
The "Mark of the Beast" is the tool used in the Banking and financial Institution for controlling buying and selling globally.
The Mark may vary in its application to eventually having it placed on a person and not used in a card form or any other.
The micro chip is already being used in Europe in Holland as an entry exit tool, where members of certain clubs can enter without cash, the drinks are automatically charged via a scan device that scans their hand .
Revelations is not a big mystery it describes itself, all the reader has to do is think about what is in the world then and today. Countries Governments Religion, Money.
The only attribute I give to history on the entirety of this Hub is that every great civilization will fall...and I think global government has been decifered as mabey the global economy...
Thanks Hoowan and Mentalist acer for responding to my site. Hoowan, as a Baptist Seminary Master's Student, I've heard just about every take on Revelation and the Mark of the Beast that is out there. There are many versions and beliefs about the book, but the only thing I know for sure is that implanting a name and number on the right hand or the forehead is now very possible, and that a government, bank, or extremely powerful human could impose this on most everyone in the world if it or he so desired to do so. I still find the book a mystery because there are so many beliefs about its meaning, and yours is only one of them. I do grow weary of the far right implying often that I voted for the anti-christ, a word which as you said is not even Biblical, and to me large Corporations and big business have more of the qualities of the "he" in revelation than Barack Obama does. A powerful CEO would be much more likely to impose this "mark of the beast" than say a U.S. preseident, because no one even elects such a person to office, and he never has to worry about being voted out as long as he can work ever more people at slave labor, and increase profit margins. If you look at the worship of money and the material as being the chief idols of today, as I do, it is easy to see that the worship of the golden calf revelation speaks of could be the literal worship of gold, which I see a lot of today.
I don't like taking the book literally, after all, it drove me to the funny farm twice, but if you do, you have to acknowledge that most people today would laugh at worshipping an actual "golden calf," yet they base their trust and glory in money and material assests on an every day basis. Some would also be willing to put to death anyone who they felt was unwilling to "work" in order to earn his or her own money as opposed to living off of the government or government "handouts." There is so much anger and hatred of the poor today, and so much of that kind of judgment, that I can see many well meaning right wingers turning in anyone who does not "work" to the authorities to be put to death. I'm only reporting what I see in my country today. Of course, I don't actually take the book literally these days as I value my sanity, and have been sane for a good close to thiry years since I ceased doing so. Still, as I said before, my version makes more sense than that of the far right, and is more true of the world today as well as of who has the power to impose the mark of the beast. (:v
Mentalist acer, my friend, Jim, stated above that he believes the book of Revelation was meant to be nothing more than the summing up of the Old Testament, and I tend to agree. Still, if the far right can come up with all these spooky interpretations, Sky's not included, because it actually makes sense as most of her writing does, then I can also come up with some spooky writing that serves my own version of reality. My interpretation is much more realistic in view of what is happening in the world today. Nobody in today's world is going to seriously pray to a golden calf. No way. We all think we're gods ourselves. But we will, and do trust money and glorify in our wealth, and in a sense, this is worship, power worship at its most obvious.

Well, my friend, you don't know any more what the author thinks than I do, and if the truth is stated, the whole book of revelation sounds very similar to someone who is experiencing psychotic delusions, therefore, White Horse, and the whole group of people who think they understand the book of revelation, probably need to either check themselves in, or see a private therapist. I haven't claimed to understand the book in about thirty years, and I'm saner for it, but I've had the experience of treating in therapy sessions many who think they know just what the author knows. After all those months on that Island, John probably could have used some anti psychotic meds himself. Thank you for responding to my site. If that reference to the funny farm was meant to imply anything about my mental stability, perhaps you should read your own comment again, as I'm not claiming to understand the mind of God, while many think they can. People, again, I don't claim to know the mind of God, and quite frankly, if God is simple enough for any of us to understand fully, he isn't complex enough to have created everything here, including us. I tend to believe what I was taught in Seminary, that John actually intentionally wrote the book so that only Christians who understood the symbols he used, would understand it. This was to keep their enemies from killing them.
I'm honest about the fact that I am riddled with doubt, as well as about the fact that trying to understand God and the Bible led to confusion that ended with me suffering a psychological collapse about thirty years ago. I also was a drug user, something else that probably created a chemical imbalance in my brain that had to work itself back to normal over time in the absense of drug use. That does not give anyone the right to make fun of me, or anyone else who suffers from delusions or mental illness, and I will ask you not to do so at this time, even if my opinion angers you.
If you cannot control your emotions any better than that, please go beat a pillow or something, and don't leave comments on the sites of other writers. People are going to have views with which you differ. Resulting to insults and name calling, mean spirited insinuations does not make your argument stronger, it only causes you to look kind of unstable yourself. if you faith is that important to you, that is the worst way you can live it out, and it won't win anyone else to your particular faith or way of thinking, I promise. Thanks again, Hoowan. I actually have little faith in therapy as it is usually applied. In all honesty, I don't trust most therapist, whom I feel attempt to have their clients except their own form of programmed thinking. That said, I think talking things out can help if the therapist knows how to get the client to answer his or her own questions. Few do.
You probably left this comment before I made the one directly above, but I am actually trying to believe in God, but can't try to know too much. I don't believe any of us can know the mind of God, and perhaps it is best that way. I'll probably never return to the funny farm, because I don't try to explain things I don't understand, I just accept that we can't know everything. Believing in God is easier than you think, its people that make it such a brain drain. Do this do that, don't do that don't do this. Doesn't surprise me why God hates Religion..

God hates sin because it means death to people, so do away with sin then do away with death for people, well Gods way of being able to carry this achievable task out was possible and I guess you already know.how.
After three years in Seminary school, if I don't know that much, I shouldn't have my Masters of Divinity Degree. I believe this hub talks about the teachings of Jesus, as opposed to what I see those who profess Christianity doing today. I often write satire, and I don't always come right out with what I am trying to do, but I accept the teachings of Jesus, and want to believe he was God. I don't accept what I see coming from many professed Christians today, and I don't even WANT to believe it is what God stands for, so I try to expose it in a number of different ways. Seems to me many acknowledge some things as sin, but totally miss others that are every bit as destructive and wrong. Did you ever read any of the writing of Flannery O'conner. She was a Christian writer who did not write obvious Christian stories, but they all had a specific point to get accross. Some writers reveal their purpose, others do not. I am not as heathen as I may appear, though I actually did encounter the forces of darkenss when trying to understand God too well. I think its best not to try, just let God be God, and accept that we aren't going to know everything. Theology can get too complicated, though I actually attended graduate school years after my funny farm experiences, and worked as a counselor inbetween. I obrained both a Seminary Degree, and Master's in Psychology and Counseling in my early forties, and became a Certified Addiction Counselor two years after graduation. I only took meds for my so-called Bi Polar Disorder for about six months, and the problem never returned, indicatiing it was a misdiagnosis. I think my former drug use, and getting too deep trying to know too much brought it on, not any biological disease. I don't have one now, anyway, whatever was going on then. (:v

I must say that I try and not read "Christian" books because I find that it interrupts my walk with God, and sort of adds a deviation in what I am used to hearing from the Holy Spirit, and the way the Holy Spirit works in my life.
I align everything if possible with how does it measure with what God says. I like people and am a friendly person to all if possible although you do get the various characters out there, and I would adapt to there rudeness or manners.
I just don't want to offend you with my hubs, but then you are a grown up who knows how to self censor whatever I write. If it looks offensive to you, just pass it up. I tried to send you an email on a question deal, because there was no way to email you. I never attack people for their faith, but I know many do. I get shaky whenever I write Christian hubs or political ones because hate mail makes me extremely nervous, but you've been pretty nice which also speaks volumes about your faith walk. I beieve it was Jesus who said, "Be angry and sin not," yet many can't seem to do that. They get overly emotional on here and start throwing hand granades. Violence scares me so I tend to avoid such hubs, but occasionally I almost hear something that feels like the voice of God telling me to write one. That is the only time I do. (:v

I am a human, there is no such thing as a non sinner, but Jesus Christ. So your hubs wouldn't offend me. Yes you do get some hubbers that get on their high horse and gun people, but that's their fall in popularity.

Thanks hoowantstono. If I feel a spiritual call to write one, I do it, but it is not my typical hub. People tend to get very combative about faith and poltics, and as I said ealier, violence in person or with words scares me. If I get angry and bash back, I don't do anything for anybody, except disqualify myself as being on the side of the good. My friend Sky writes some very good christian Spiritual stuff, and the one I've read so far of yours were also good, though the devil was funny looking. I like all that's said here. You're talking it out and not insisting that there is a really clear answer. I don't care too much about Revelations. That's God's responsibility. I don't like the scare tactics of religion. It's my job to do the right thing. I have only the "nail" of the Golden Rule to drive home. I'm gruff at times but there is little time to be everything to everybody. So I don't care about a lot of the Bible. I've read it over and over and THE law above all laws is that we love one another. Our God loves us. Our God wants what is good for us and for our enemies. He says so. He says we should love our enemies. I will only worship a benevolent God. If my God is not a kind God what would be the point? He insists that we do unto others as we would have done unto ourselves. I see no need to worship a God that would not take His own advice. Christians are defeating themselves and the wishes of God to try to use this right wing mess or the left wing mess. These two parties are strangling the world.
I can agree with HOOWANTSTONO in that his answer is feasible. It doesn't matter to me. As for as I'm concerned the "chip", the number, etc. is a done deal. If the wheels are in motion for it to happen, it's only time. Too many people are believing in the "banking and financial institutions". Too many people are thinking a Democrat will come around a cornor and save them. Many think that man would have been Obama. Now we see that Obama and Bush are related. Folks want to "take back America" from Obama. Good luck on that. The only candidate that will be available will belong to the Tri-Lateral Commission, Harvard, etc. That's "kin" enough. Whoever is the next leader will do the will of "bUsIneSs". That is the way it has been and that's the way it will be. These people are "slavers". For all practical purposes- we already have the "mark". Most of our country abhors every politician, yet, where is the real outcry? We are the most imprisoned nation on earth. America turns it's back on a court room filled with corruption. It's been that way since this country was founded. People want a return to an America that once was. It never was. Slavery, Indians, Central America, South America, ad nauseum. Slavers. Continually building gated communities for us all. Genocide on every corner. The merchants roll on and I'm not talking about that deli or bike shop down the street that can hardly have time off and make ends meet. Our country may be the most bigoted in the way it views the world and itself. I could go on- but the future is now and in the past. Thank you Ma'am.
Micky Dee, you said a mouthful, and I agreed with just about all of it. I do believe Obama would make the changes he promised if he was able to do so, but his opposition is great. Other than that, you said what is on my mind most of the time. People want to glorify the founding fathers who owned slaves and drove the Indians out from their homeland. What is so much more noble about that than the politicians we see today? Nothing I can see. (:v

Deni Edwards, it would do well for those who see so much evil on the left side of politics, to observe some of the evil that also lurks on the right. The left can be every bit as annoying, but they don't generally shout "anti-christ" at everyone who opposes them. Of course, when you don't believe in God at all you tend to shout "bigot" or "racist" instead of "anti-christ." I'm getting sick of hearing all of these battle cries. Aren't you? Perhaps I should send copies of this to my credit card companies too, but since I can't afford to send them any money right now, I'll let them keep fuming over that for now. (:v

When looking for the identity of the beast we have to consider all of the clues that were given.
It was given 42 months to blaspheme the Lord!
A time frame as given in prophesy is not the same as we see time. for instance, in Daniel it is written that after 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off(Killed)
568 years later he was.
42 months of the beast is a long time. Approx 1650 yeas, I believe. This is a clue that most people have been taught to ignore.
Interesting, Jerami, that also makes my own thinking on this more realistic, as it could take another 1000 years or more for credit cards and debit cards as we know them to develop into required implants into the hands or foreheads of people. It also knocks out the idea of the "beast" being an individual, as nobody lives that long. Thanks for the insight. (:v
I like your credit card analogy. Our confrontation forced me to write four hubs. About two years ago I had a big confrontation with a Professor Emeritus Peter Bagno(LO) (Bagnolo) from wheaton Illi (NOIS). He had written (144) articles for OPED news. Several of his articles were talks with God. I told him, Nice one Pete, I haven't heard any voices yet. Chapter 14 Revelations. And I looked and (LO) a lamb stood on the Mount (SION) having a hundred and forty and four thousand of his fathers name written in their foreheads. Welcome to the curse Peter.
Hi Valerie, Thanks for posting my link,Much appreciated. Great writing and as always love your honesty. It seems to be very common with mental episodes and religious experiences. I've had certain amily members go through similar experiences and I also sufer from depression from time to time and this can also cloud your faith and relationship with God. I think there will be a great deception and falling away of faith. Personally, I think if the rapture doesn't happen when christians think it should many will fall. When people might have to die because of their faith such as some in other countries today are, then a lot of people will choose security instead. Anyway I enjoyed your hub great writing and keep on seeking.

I agree with what sky321 mentioned. Many will loose their way when the next stage of the prophesy are fulfilled, because it will not be as expected.

No one is going to like what I am about to write.
Many false interpretations of prophesy has been commonly accepted. The Church is teaching them! And has been since its conception in 326.
The greatest misconception is the timeline comparison between prophesy and our real time.
If 62 weeks as described in Daniel 9 began in 538 BC as it says that it does, and ended around 30 AD when Jesus was crucified? A week in prophesy is approx. 9.13 of our years.
It really is this simple, study Daniel 9 with an open mind, attempting to clear your mind from any and all preconceived ideas as to what you already "Think" that it says and read what it actually says.
Analyze this chapter as if it were the foundation on which to build your understanding of prophesy.
Because in fact it really is.
We should not understand the last prophesy, (any way that we choose), then work backwards in our attempt to find a firm foundation on which our belief system can rest upon. It won't work that way.
42 months can be seen to equated to be approx 1650 years. How many organizations have been around that long.
Lets go back in time 1650 years from today. We come to approx 360 AD.
What was going on at that time? Pope liberius had just returned to his position as Pope in Rome.
There were 10 different Popes at that time.
One of these "heads" of state (so to speak) got into an argument with the Emperor and found himself banished and sent into exile. He recovered from this situation and returned to his place of authority in 359.
And everyone through out the city of Rome gathered in the streets and celebrated.
Who can argue with the church??
I think that at that time the church realized its full power.
If you weren't Catholic you couldn't have any job of authority, own any kind of property, including grocery stores. If you were not Catholic you were persecuted in every way or killed.
And here we are 1650 years later ... Judaism, Christianity and Islam are (intentionally or not) bringing together the world leaders to a great battle.
The sixth vial has been poured out.
ALL of prophesy has been fulfilled except for the two witnesses being killed, the seventh trumpet being sounded and the seventh vial being poured out.
And everybody is going to be caught unaware ... because every one is entitled to their own interpretation.

This was very interesting Valerie. I can see how a lot of these ideas can make sense. I am not real sure about the six headed beast, but I do know the Bible does mention a person of some political power deceiving the people. According to the Bible, in Revelations it is told of all the Christians being taken up off the earth in the rapture. This means not all people will have to go through this. This was very thought provoking. A lot of these ideas deserve serious consideration. Thanks for giving this topic the attention it deserves.

I don't think any of us know exactly what the beast involves, for instance the guy above you on this list thinks he is involved with the Catholic church, possibly the Pope. I'm not even sure the book isn't symbolic, and not predicting the future at all, but the possibility of implanting credit card names and numbers is too real today to ignore. (:v

The testimony of Stephen is delusional. chap 19 The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
I can not believe that the Lord would give us a message (prophesy)and not intent for us to understand it.
It is clear that the prophesy as written in the book of Daniel was concerning those things that they would see before the "end of days" for that Hebrew Nation that these were written to. These prophesy was fulfilled when "The Little Horn" scatters the power of the Holy People. The little horn is said to be a king belonging to the fourth kingdom upon the earth. The first three kingdoms were identified as Babylon, Persia, and Greece. The fourth was the Roman Empire.
The Little Horn is a king that rises up after the ten replacing three. Hadrian was the fourteenth king (Emperor) and the Last to rule over that Hebrew Nation.
These prophesy were fulfilled.
Rev. should be seen as a sequel. These two distinctly diffrent set of prophesy is not to be intertwined
To do so would create a mystery impossible to solve.
zzron, I just pulled the six headed beast out of the air. I believe it is a ten headed beast in the book; I'd have to go back and look. White Horse and Jerami, thanks for your additional comments. While you do not appear to agree completely, you both take the book of Revelation very seriously, and believe it predicts the future. This is not unusual. Get three people in the same room discussing this book, and they seldom agree on what it says.
Jesus spoke in parables, and I'm not sure the Bible doesn't do the same. Just like the dream I describe in my very next hub after this one that isn't about a dog, cat or shrub, God often speaks with symbolism. That kind of writing is difficult to understand, just as Jesus said his parables would be difficult for many to grasp. why don't you ask Jesus why God would write something we found difficult to grasp. He might have your answer. (:v
You are right about the future. If I was the bad guy in the bible I sure would not want to be exposed. How else could Jesus wash them from their sins.

I think that the prophesy was of things to be when they was written. At this place in time we should realize most of them as things that have been fulfilled.
For instance; Take the seal judgments for example...
John was caught up into heaven, standing just a short distance from the great white throne.
No one in heaven,on the earth, or under earth and the sea was found worthy to take the book.
Where was Jesus?
I suggest that he was in the air on his way to heaven. He wasn't there one moment and suddenly there he was, in the midst of the elders.
I think that this indicates that as soon as the bloody lamb arrives in heaven immediately after his crucifixion, he takes the book and immediately begins opening the seals.
This indicates to me that the seal judgments were punishments that were inflicted upon the Hebrew peoples of that time. That generation that had rejected and crucified their messiah.
Matthew 23:36 Just moments before the "sermon of discourse" was delivered to four of his disciples in a "Private" conversation; Jesus confronted the scribes and pharisees in the temple, and finished this discussion with Jesus saying... (Matt. 23:36)

Clearly Jesus wasn't talking about some other generation that will come "someday". He was talking to those before him,
Moments later Peter,James,John and Andrew ask "Privately" "When are these things going to be?"
So Jesus answered them, "When You see" and "they will do these things to YOU" He wasn't speaking of someone else that hasn't been born yet!!.
Jesus said "When "YOU" see the abomination spoken of by Daniel the prophet, know that the time is at hand".
Jesus told these four "Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled".
It is my opinion that all of prophesy has a cloud of personal interpretations covering them,Or should I say ; the message of prophesy is buried under multitudes of interpretation.. making it almost impossible to see the original intent of the message.
We must ask ourselves; Could this be true?
If so when did it begin, and why?

I started out a decade ago, believing this, but knew that This would be found to be objectionable, so .. in order to prepare myself for an onslaught, I attempted to disprove the theory. With every argument that I presented myself with, I uncovered further proof of my suspicions being correct. Evidence in scripture started to appear as if it were highlighted. Every where I looked.
Just suppose that the "Rapture" as most Christians supposed it to be, happens tomorrow. They reign in heaven with Christ (as it is actually written in Rev 20)for 1000 years.
The truth of this actually having happened would be explained away over the next few centuries. A religion will take the place of this one. (Rev. 13)
They may teach everything else with accuracy, but if they teach that those prophesy that had been fulfilled in the year 2010 have not yet happened, they would be teaching a false doctrine.
That church would be teaching their followers to be watching for signs that simply wasn't going to come. Because those have already been.
If Jesus Christ was telling it like it was
Mark 14;62 "and ye shall see the son sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming in the clouds of heaven"
Mark 9:1 "...There be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power." Then yes those prophesy have been fulfilld.
So yes! I do believe that the Religion that the Roman Empire built is the Beast described in Rev 13. And all Churches today that are preaching a false doctrine if they say that 2000 years has passed and prophesy has not been fulfilled as yet, when in fact it has. If Jesus was speaking in truth.

Yep, I always wondered why Jesus would have told the people back then "some of you standng here will not taste of death before these things come to pass," if He was referring to a group of people in our day or later. People tend to ignore this, or I guess they have some way of explaining it away, but it makes perfect sense to believe it happened just as he said it would, back then. If God is against us, we're in serious trouble, so I choose to believe God is for us. I certainly hope he forgives and doesn't get vengeful and mean. I think people are vengeful, but an all powerful God shouldn't have reason to be. Nope, don't wanta get spooked. We're having a thunder storm down here in Georgia, and my Aussie stud is barking his muzzle off. He's afraid of thunder. So I don't need to hear bad things about God. I never could be good enough to please anybody, so if God gets mean and vengeful, I'd rather not know. Then if you're wrong, I won't ever have to worry about it. (:v

Valeribelew, thank you for writing this hub. It is a very controversial subject and you will always find somebody who will make fun of what you write or say. A few years ago i was unsure of what to believe myself. I too suffered depression so i know what that is like also. Jesus tells us that He will not test us beyond what we can endure but that He will make a way out. I was to the lowest point in my life when Jesus picked me up and put me on the right road to eternity. I see here that you are also in that place so i will pray for you to find peace and understanding.
Once you belong to God it is amazing how he opens your eyes and mind to understand His words. He is a God of love and He would never be mean to anybody. He sent His only son to die for ALL mankind so we all have a choice to follow Him. He gave man a free will to make their own choices. He will never force anyone to do anything.

I hate to say this but the mark of the beast has entered even the holy places so there is no more peace on earth! We have however to live on untill nature takes us from our physical life. But since once you were a christian, how did it feel like feeling connected with him? The Bible story of creation is that God made man in his own image, so we should all be identical with one another. How many people look exactly like you? God is depicted as a man, yet you are a Lady, so does it mean God is contradicting himself? It simply means its not the physical man who looks like God, but the spiritual man. As intended man should be humble and innocent as a baby, yet have ultmate wisdom- liken it to a proffesor if you like. Christ had the physical likeness of man so man could relate with him but the spiritual likeness of God so that we could relate with him. and copy him. Revealation is just that, Its the disciple of christ getting to that spiritual level and God revealing things to come. Atheist may bring all sorts of argument,but they have not given us another different theory, unless there was another universe which got destroyed and this man Jesus happens to have been one of the survivors,in which case the more we should trust the revealations as of what was there before and bound to bounce back, but so far there has not been discovery of ancient complex computer or IT.Then it looks like there was a man Jesus with super knowledge. If however you feel this is not what you want to run your life, is there any thing to stop mimiking his genius? If you can create logic that takes you next level without desrtucting your life or other, shouldn't you pursue it. Some one said that Revelation was John writing, however Chapter One says:

2Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
I'm not surprised that back then they labelled you as mentally ill for hearing from God, there are many on hubpages that would do so today, neither am I surprised that once you took the drugs, you stopped hearing from God, the drugs rendered you incapable of doing so.
But it does seem that God has not finished with you in His service, and I would guess you are better equipped today to serve Him.
You are correct, the beast is a system, we are living within it, and in due course that system will 'persecute' believers by cutting off their ability to function in the world system.
Of course the answer to that is to 'come out of her my people' before the world system starts to seek you out for persecution, and many believers are already separating themselves in preparation for the coming times.
It's good 'outside the camp' and God does provide our shelter and protection, ad the promise that if we but 'watch and pray' we WILL be accounted worthy to escape ALL these things, as well as telling us to 'Seek first the kingdom of God", THEN all these things will be added to us.
Keep searching, stay open to His voice, rely upon the Holy Spirit to guide you, and test all things against scripture.

I think that much of what is beasty or devilish or evil in the world is our own split off parts which we do not like, cannot reconcile with ourselves, so we attribute them to something outside ourselves, so then they can act out, so to speak, on their own, and we can then say, "That's not me,saying or doing those things." Even though it clearly is.
There is nothing wrong with the world of psychosis. It may be as real as any other world. I mean we are all hopped up on preservatives, hormones, fumes of all kinds, additives, etc. etcc. So who knows whose reality is drug induced, psychosis induced, "reality" induced?

We all have various ideas of the end time. I even heard that Jehovah witness said that Jesus started to reign in heaven in 1914. Other people have they own views consequently it is not and easy task. That is why some people even accuse the catholic, new world order among others as the beast.

The book will explain way I said it is truly time. It is time for a new beginning for humanity. A time humanity shall no longer be separated by our religion just as humanity was once separated by the color of their skin. A time of peace, unity, equity, justice, and love. A time people can call what they will but it is a time that must come upon us. We all have the right to opinion but my book is the mark of a new beginning that was destined to come upon us because it is time that justice come to earth and men shall stop to merely belief in God but will start to truly live in God. Seems I have heard this before about Mother Teresa. I think it is common among all of us. I placed my resume of qualification on Hubpages this morning, and plan to take a different approach. Applying for jobs I'd hate two hours from home hasn't worked, and I'm no longer getting enough hours to do much good on my part time job. As you can see if you draw a line through each 666, the math problem is full of hexagons and triangles. On the attachment to this e-mail I have drawn them lines. Hey Valerie, I am a Christian, but God deals with all his people in different ways, just as he did with the Apostle Paul, Samson, and King David. But darling, he gets his glory out of taking someone dispised by the world and using them for his glory. I see that God has his hand upon you and pray that he makes himself real to you, so that you may experience the fullness of his love and grace in Jesus' name! You may think that I'm a nut, that's ok, I'm a fruitloop for Jesus, quite harmless. You wouldn't be giving these things much thought if you didn't want to know in your heart if God was real. Ask him to make himself known to you, see what happens! The micro-chip economy is on the way, maybe through obamacare!
I for one believe the gospel abide by the ten commandments to the best of my ability and I too have been compiling evidence that points in the direction that the illuminati are anti-Christ and they want to play god.... Also these micro chips I do believe could possibly be the mark. I wont be fooled into getting it if people would use the news the bible and underground websites about the occult and conspiracy will see where I gather my information from.....
